No, I'm not up for re-election and this isn't yet another party-political speech.....I just
want to say a big thank you to the many residents of Meadowhead who've welcomed
me into their homes.
I've thoroughly enjoyed the five years I've been your Conservative councillor.
Granted there's been many challenges along the way but hopefully we've worked
together to resolve them. Meeting people from varied backgrounds, you've taught
me a lot, as I knew you would, and I've come to the conclusion that this diverse area
is a magnet for people who care about where they live, as I do.
You know that I react as soon as I can to your concerns, many times within the hour.
Some of you have been surprised that I've actually turned up on your doorstep within
the hour of you contacting me! I've always worked hard to resolve your problems and
do my utmost to 'niggle' the town hall as often as possible to get things done.
Anti-PC, tough on crime and a believer in a fair deal for all residents of Blackburn,
as you'll have gathered, my downfall is that I'm blunt and to-the-point.You can blame
my army background for that! What I can say, with pride, is that I stand no nonsense from Town Hall mandarins and will
fight your corner at all times.
Married with two adult sons, you'll often see me walking around the area with our dog, Mia (who gets much more attention
than I do!). For those who've contacted me over these last five years, you know that I am reliable and honest. I've met a
variety of people, each with their own concerns, and am thrilled many of them have become firm friends. However, for
those who've never spoken to me, please don't forget I'm only at the end of a phone. Councillors are a bit like plumbers;
if you don't need us then we won't visit. Always remember a problem shared is a problem halved, so don't forget I'm here.
